Epping Forest District Council Highways department has successfully trailed the
Jetpatching System over two four weeks periods in spring and summer 2002. During
the spring the system was used to carry out approximately 60% of the pre-surface
dressing patching. The resultant savings enabled four new sites to be added to
the programme.
During the autumn specific rural roads known to be problematic with potholing
over the winter months were targeted. As a direct result of the use of the
system the number of third party accident claims was reduced significantly for
those roads. Additionally resources were redirected into the urban areas in
tandem with the local Parish Month scheme.
Epping Forest District Council have been sufficiently impressed with the product
that wintered extremely well, to make use of the system for 16 weeks during
2003/4; double that of the previous year. Further expansion of the systems use
is envisaged over the next five years.
